Academy

Academy of Wisdom

The Academy of Wisdom is the educational division of Blessed Behind Bars Ministry, providing accessible online training designed to help individuals develop emotional control, personal responsibility, and practical life skills. The Academy is home to our structured Anger Management Program, offering both live online classes and convenient pre-recorded courses that participants can complete at their own pace. These programs are designed to support individuals seeking personal growth, court-related education requirements, or tools to build healthier relationships and decision-making habits.

Classes are facilitated by Ann Jael, who brings years of professional experience working with high-risk offenders within both state and federal prison systems. Through the Academy of Wisdom, participants receive practical guidance in a supportive and respectful environment. Our online format makes learning convenient for working adults and single parents, while maintaining a reasonable cost so education remains  accessible to those who need it most. Students who successfully complete a program receive proof of course completion, which may be provided to supervising authorities when required. In addition to core classes, the Academy offers optional life-coaching support, invitations to educational podcasts, and monthly support group meetings that encourage continued growth. Graduates of the program are also welcome to return for Anger Management Refresher Classes if they feel they need reinforcement of the tools and strategies they previously learned. Course workbooks and supporting materials are available at an affordable cost to help participants continue practicing these skills beyond the classroom.

The Academy of Wisdom Anger Management Program is an evidence-based educational program designed to help individuals understand the root causes of anger and develop healthier ways to respond to stress, frustration, and conflict. Through structured lessons and guided discussions, participants learn practical tools to recognize emotional triggers, manage reactions, and build stronger communication and decision-making skills. The program emphasizes personal accountability, emotional awareness, and strategies that support healthier relationships and positive life choices.

Our anger management classes are available online through both live instructor-led sessions and convenient self-paced learning options, making it easier for participants to complete the program regardless of their schedule or location. Classes are facilitated by Ann Jael, a certified anger management specialist with years of professional experience working with high-risk offenders in both state and federal correctional systems.

The program follows a structured six-week format and incorporates evidence-based principles commonly used in anger management and behavioral change programs. Walking Away

"Walk away the instant you feel like things are getting out of control."

Learning to walk away when anger begins to rise is one of the most important anger management skills a person can develop. When emotions become intense, the body enters a heightened state where clear thinking and good judgment become more difficult. Taking a step back from the situation allows time for emotions to calm down and prevents words or actions that could lead to regret, conflict, or harmful consequences. Walking away is not a sign of weakness—it is a sign of self-control and maturity. By creating distance from a heated situation, individuals give themselves the opportunity to breathe, think clearly, and choose a healthier response. This simple strategy can prevent arguments from escalating, protect relationships, and help individuals maintain control over their behavior.

Breathing When Angry

"Protect yourself, don't allow your anger to get out of control, stop & take a deep breath!"

A simple breathing technique can help calm the body and mind when anger begins to rise. One commonly used method is slow deep breathing, which helps slow the heart rate and reduce the body's stress response. When a person becomes angry, breathing often becomes fast and shallow, which can intensify emotional reactions. Taking slow, controlled breaths helps restore balance and allows the mind to think more clearly.

To practice this technique, pause and take a slow breath in through your nose, counting to four as you inhale. Hold the breath gently for a moment, then slowly exhale through your mouth while counting to four again. Repeat this process several times, focusing only on your breathing. This simple exercise can help calm strong emotions, reduce tension, and give you the time needed to respond to a situation more thoughtfully rather than reacting in anger.

Waiting List

Due to limited class sizes and a commitment to providing a supportive learning environment, the Academy of Wisdom may occasionally maintain a waiting list for upcoming anger management classes. When classes reach full capacity, individuals who wish to enroll may request to be placed on the waiting list and will be contacted as soon as a new class session becomes available.

Being placed on the waiting list helps ensure that interested participants have the opportunity to join the next available program. Individuals on the waiting list will receive enrollment information and instructions once space becomes available in an upcoming class session. Waiting List will be available soon!
